هي سمكة من العائلة البورية وتُشبه البوري، لكن هناك فرقاً في الشكل الخارجي، حيث إن البوري يتميز بفم عريض يُشبه نصف القوس، ويتميز ظهره باللون الأزرق الغامق ، فضلاً عن وجود غشاء دهني أمام عين السمكة، و الزعنفة الذيلية مشقوقة، أما "الطوبار" فيكون فمه مدبب ويميل ظهره للون الأسود، الزعنفة الذيلية غير مشقوقة

البورى .. له فم  مفلطح جدا شبه نص القوس و الشفاه كبيرة بعض الشئ ولون الظهر اذرق غامق وبه نقط ذرقاء امام الزعنفه الجانبيه خلف الخياشيم مباشره وله غشاء دهني فوق عين السمكه تشبه الجفن و 

اما  الطوبار .. الفم مدبب بعض الشئ و الشفاه رفيعه ودقيقه و لون الظهر اسود وبه نقط سوداء امام الزعنفه الجانبيه خلف الخياشيم
